Structure of the Training to Become a PEKiP® Group Leader
Structure of the Training to Become a PEKiP Group Leader
The training to become a PEKiP group leader is structured in two main parts:
Part 1: PEKiP Basic Course
- Duration: 100 units of in-person sessions spread over approximately 9 months, with an additional 50 hours of self-study.
- Course Format: The course takes place in five weekend blocks. Typically, these sessions are held:
- Friday: 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM
- Saturday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Sunday: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
- Content: In this part of the training, participants learn the theoretical, methodological, and didactic foundations of the PEKiP (Prague Parent-Child Program). They combine their professional social pedagogy knowledge with the skills necessary to lead a PEKiP group.
Key Topics:
- PEKiP® play and movement activities in the first year of life
- Developmental psychology basics in the first year of life
- Pedagogical practices in a parent-child group
- Promoting learning processes for both adults and children in a group setting
Part 2: PEKiP Practical Reflection
- Duration: 25 units over approximately 9 months.
- Format: Participants independently lead their first PEKiP groups, with ongoing support from a PEKiP trainer. Small group sessions (5 meetings) provide the chance for reflection and guidance.
Outcome: The PEKiP® Certificate
After completing both parts of the training, participants will receive the PEKiP certificate, confirming their qualification as a PEKiP group leader.
This structure allows for both theoretical learning and practical application, with a strong emphasis on reflection and professional growth.
Upon acknowledgment of the usage agreement, certified PEKiP group leaders are authorized to use the legally protected trademark "PEKiP" as well as the PEKiP association logo to promote their PEKiP group work, free of charge.

Success, Effectiveness, and Networking
The Prager Parent-Child Program PEKiP e.V. is a non-profit organization that promotes the spread of the PEKiP idea. Currently, around 950 members support this cause.
More than 2,300 active PEKiP group leaders reach approximately 66,000 families each week in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Over 2,000 institutions offer this group educational concept as part of parent education.
In a scientifically evaluated parent survey conducted by PEKiP e.V. in 2011/2012 and 2022/2023, more than 6,000 parents confirmed that, by participating in a PEKiP group, they had become more sensitive and confident in their interactions with their child, found the PEKiP games to be valuable in supporting their child’s development, and felt strengthened in their parenting actions.
Across the German-speaking world, there are PEKiP regional groups (Maybe soon worldwide…). It is worthwhile to network: ask us for more information.
